The notary certifies the authenticity of the signature on documents, the content of which does not contradict the law and which do not have the nature of transactions and do not contain information that defames the honor and dignity of a person, such as statements, statutes, protocols, decisions and other documents.

CERTIFICATION OF SIGNATURES ON DOCUMENTS:

A notary performs notarial actions to certify the authenticity of a person's signature on documents. A similar action is required quite often for submitting documents to state institutions and banks.

The notary certifies that the signature was made by the person specified in the document. At the same time, the content of such a document must not contradict the law, and such a document must not contain information that defames the honor and dignity of a person.

 

The notary preliminarily establishes the identity of the signatory.

 

When certifying a signature, the notary does not certify the facts specified in the document itself. Certification only means that this document was signed by the person named in it.

 

If a person is unable to sign on his own due to physical disability or illness, the presence of another person who can sign the document is also required. The notary establishes the identity of one and another person, establishes the valid will of the signatory. After that, the person has the right to sign, which is certified by a notary.

To certify the authenticity of the signature, the following are required:

  • Documents certifying your identity.

  • Certificate of identification number assignment.

​

  • Other documents in individual cases.

A notary public cannot certify the authenticity of a natural person's signature on a document in which circumstances are asserted, the right to certify which belongs only to the relevant state body (time of birth, marriage, death, presence of illness, disability, ownership of property, etc.). The authenticity of the signature on the specified document can be certified if the document is intended for submission to the competent authorities of another state.
